You don’t need to take your theory test before starting your lessons, but it is a good idea to get started with your theory as soon as possible.

The show me/tell me questions are the vehicle safety questions that are asked before a practical driving test. Your instructor will then help you with any questions that you don’t understand.

It is important you make sure you have a DSA approved driving instructor. These come in two forms, either a PDI (potential driving instructor) or an ADI (approved driving instructor). A PDI is instructor that hasn’t yet passed their part 3 instructors test, they are allowed to instructor drivers for 6 months on this license. An ADI is a fully qualified instructor who has passed all their exams.
